Addiction is a hell of a battle for so many of us. Whether it’s something we struggle with on the inside or something we watch from the sidelines, it can be incredibly painful. Set against an upbeat tempo and melody, the lyric is fairly defeated - and intentionally so. It’s honest. That’s all that matters to me. Loneliness can be crippling and memory can be too hard to process at times and naturally I ran to chemicals for relief thinking they could numb it out. But after awhile, it simply became a cyclical habit that had its hooks sunk in so deep that I couldn’t escape on my own. I wrote this song in the darkest part of that cave and as strange as it sounds, I found some relief just by putting the pen to the page and writing about it. No filters or fears. Just sincerity. I hope the folks that hear it can relate on some level and connect in a positive way. That’s the beauty of rolling humanity and honesty into song form.
