New EP: ‘MM & The Blue Cut Robbery’
This is The Blue Cut Robbery. It’s not about a scene. It not about hipsters. It’s about that rocknroll fire that has lit up my bones since I was a kid. I decided that the month of May was the right time for it. It’s quite the ruckus. Enjoy!
Brace yourselves.

NEW PLEDGE INCENTIVES AND NEW EP UPDATES
I love being a singer/songwriter with an acoustic guitar. I’ve embraced it. But for May’s EP, I’ve decided it’s time to make a rock record. There’s an entire 50 percent of my being that lives for gritty, electric rocknroll music. We’re called The Blue Cut Robbery and we will make a record full of nasty riffs that move you.
I’m so glad that so many of y’all have gotten involved with this music through the Pledge thing we’ve been doing. We’re all having a blast doing this and it’s working!! We just passed the 25% mark and released a bunch of new exclusive items up HERE.
There are slides, picks, signed set lists, handwritten lyric books, demos, guitars, drum sticks, ect. All kinds of bits and pieces from the making of each record. Just scroll down the right side of the page to see everything. A portion of every pledge that comes in goes straight to the International Justice Mission–a human rights organization dedicated to setting people free. For more info check out www.ijm.org
There’s no stopping this music. Thank y’all for getting on the train.

‘…With A Little Help From My Friends’
It’s always a pleasure to support the Needtobreathe boys–and last night was really special. Those guys are like brothers to me. The crowd was 2,000 strong and they were deafening at times. I was blown away. ‘Fire Escape’ and ‘Missed Me’ made their live debuts, Bo from NTB sat in on ‘Better’, and the lovely Bekah Fox joined me on ‘First in Line’ and ‘Maybe Next Christmas’.
The boys played a hell of a set. They give it everything they’ve got every single night. The success they’re having couldn’t happen to better people. I got the call from Bear to come sit in on guitar for ‘With a Little Help From My Friends’ and it was SUCH as blast. Here are a few photos from the night…
‘You’re Not Home’ released today on iTunes!
Just released the new EP, ‘You’re Not Home’ on iTunes today. Five more songs to throw on the fire. Huge thanks to all of you for making it burn so bright. It means everything to me.
Have a listen to all the songs/get a free download here. I will keep making this music til I drop. I hope it finds you well.

Last Installment of the Kensington Road Sessions: ‘Open Road’
The initial spark for this video series was something stripped, live, and honest–no fancy production. Something to showcase these five songs in their rawest form. I didn’t fix any mistakes or spend any extra time on the back end. What you see and hear is exactly what happened in the studio. I hope that you feel a little closer to the songs as a result.. Those lenses captured everything we did–start to finish.
Here’s the last video from that session for ‘Open Road’. Still one of my favorites.

More Friends & Heroes: NEEDTOBREATHE
Very honored to call these guys friends. Having seen the whole operation inside and out–I can honestly say the Need boys are the real deal. Incredible players, heartfelt, egoless, dedicated. They’ve worked their asses off for the past 10 years and it’s paying off in a huge way. Go see a show sometime. They’re on the road with the mighty Will Hoge at the moment. Here’s a video of one of my favorites: ‘The Outsiders’
More Friends & Heroes–Switchfoot
The entire Switchfoot camp is SOLID. The entire band, crew, and fans are so warm and welcoming. We toured with those guys back in ‘06 and I had the honor of opening the Birmingham show last night. Got to play some new songs and have some good chats with those dudes. It was really good for my heart to be around such warmth.
Check out their new record, ‘Hello Hurricane’ here: www.switchfoot.com
Big love.

Ps. Jon has an old Silvertone. I’m super jealous. I had to scout it out in the lit up guitar world. Jimmy Page would be proud, Jonny boy!
Friends, Heroes, & the Merger of the Two
I am fortunate to know some truly incredible artists. It’s important that we encourage each other in an industry full of snakes. This is my friend Matthew Perryman Jones. He wrote a timeless, beautiful song called ‘Save You’. Have a listen: Matthew Perryman Jones / ‘Save You’
More to come…

My Next Two E.P.’s
So I’ve got this idea that I wanna share with you guys. I wanna give everyone the chance to get more involved in the next couple of records and bring y’all a little closer than social media will allow. Basically, YOU are the record company. You pledge whatever amount you want to ($12 minimum) and we make the next few records together as a team. There’s all kinds of exclusive content, music, video and little artifacts from the studio, plus some tangible pieces of the creative process available to make it all a bit more intimate than the standard ‘here’s my record…end of story’. Check out Pledge Page here: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/matthewmayfield or just click on the badge below
You won’t be subscribing to a service, you’ll be joining my team. I know that may sound a bit NASCAR, but I assure you there will be no corporate logos painted across my guitars. Just a simple bridge built between fans and the artist.
Take a look. I think it’s a cool way to keep real music alive in the new world.
Cheers,
MM
