Hope this finds all of you well. I’ve just finished a new EP due out this spring and I want y’all to be the first to hear it, the first to share it with friends, and the first to peak behind the curtain and see what happens with a record once it leaves the studio. The plan is simple: to reach a wider audience than ever before while keeping the core (you guys) closely involved. I want to make sure y’all are in the loop on all fronts and get to see the process in a way no one else will.
The EP, titled ‘Irons In The Fire’, will be a bit different this time around. It will be an 8 song release with two of the songs from ‘Now You’re Free’ remastered (‘Fire Escape’ & ‘Tonight’). There will also be a new mix of ‘Fire Escape’ that features John Paul White’s (The Civil Wars) vocal as well as a new, slightly moodier spin on the song. I plan to keep the cost down so that everyone is only paying for the new material and remixes, not songs they already have in their collection. The reason for the repeats is simply that if we are taking this to a new audience, I wouldn’t want them to miss those two tunes the first time they’re exposed to my music.
It’s no mystery that being an independent artist is a grind. The ups and downs can be a bit exhausting, but it’s always worth it. This time around I want to go a step further on the publicity, marketing, and independent radio side of things to make sure that we’re moving in the right direction. All of this costs money, and that’s where the Pledge Music campaign comes in. There will be a full length covers album (finally), a live EP, a live solo acoustic show, handwritten lyrics, signed guitars, private shows, and tons more available to y’all. With your pledges, we can make moves we haven’t been able to in the past. In addition to any item you pledge on, you’ll be the first to hear the new record before it’s released and talk freely about it however you choose (word of mouth, social media, blogging, etc.).
